Nighttime Bunion Splint

Just because you don’t need a bunion splint now

doesn’t mean you won’t ever. Every year, roughly 15 million men and 60 million women suffer from bunions. Some find the problem so bothersome they go for surgery. Should you? The good news is that you don’t have to go under the knife to correct that big and painful lump on your big toe. There are many things that you can do to relieve the pain and the discomfort. Here are some natural remedies that you can try.

1. Wear bunion splint or pads! This won’t correct your problem but it will provide you relief by reducing the pain.

2. Eat pineapples! Pineapples contain bromelain, which is an enzyme that dissolves protein and reduces the swelling. So load up on pineapples, and if you can’t or don’t want to, you may buy bromelain pills instead.

3. Load up on chamomile! Chamomile reduces the inflammation and relieves the pain. You can either drink it, in the form of tea, or apply it on your bunion, using a used tea bag.

4. Pepper up with cayenne! Cayenne pepper isn’t only a good addition to your cooking, it’s great to use alongside your bunion splint, too. What you do is cut off the pepper’s end. Then, rub the pepper directly on your bunion. Cayenne has capsaicin, which makes the pepper hot. In your case, it provides relief by blocking the nerves where you feel pain.

5. Try clove oil! Ever wondered what that substance dentists swab your gums with before injecting you with novocaine or lidocaine? That’s eugenol, which you can also get from clove oil. It numbs the pain – all you have to do is put a few clove oil drops onto a cotton bandage. Apply this on your bunion once or twice daily. You can try these natural remedies to get relief anytime, anywhere. Don’t forget, though, that all they do is provide relief, not treatment.
